WBC’s 7 members who made it in past Canadian Border Services wisely decided not to bother protesting Tim MClean’s funeral today in Winnipeg, after hundreds of Winnipeggers respectfully hovered around Westwood Church, ready to protect the McLean family from the Baptist contingent.
“I think this has shown them that Canada will NOT tolerate their hatred,” stated a Facebook member of Protest Against.
Topic Agnostic’s own Godless was part of the crowd - we’d love to have a comment from Godless or anyone else who was present on the atmosphere in the Westboro Church parking lot.
The tragic story of Tim McClean’s murder, beheading and cannibalization spread quickly around the world; his Facebook RIP page has almost 140 000 members. People relate to and care about Tim’s death because it was so sad, unfair, and random. I can’t imagine how his family must feel.
Enter the hatemongering douchebags known as Westboro Baptist Church. I’m sure you’ve heard of them - they’re the tools that protest military funerals, gay people’s funerals, the Olympics, the National Conference of Editorial Writers (who’s contribution to our slippery slide to h-e-double-hockey-sticks must never be underestimated!) and basically everything, because we’re all inadequate impenitent sodomites and it’s their duty to tell us.
Tim’s funeral is tomorrow in Winnipeg, Canada. He was killed while traveling there on a Greyhound bus, by a total effing madman. The connection to this guy and anything Westboro could be protesting against is nonexistant - something about Canada’s punishment for labeling them a hate group. Tim’s family has requested that the numerous irate Winnipeggers (and other Canadians and Americans, thank you) who intend to disrupt or prevent the protest to be non-confrontational and just keep these, ahem, people away from the funeral participants.
Canadian Border Services, bless you guys, turned the first group of Westboro protesters away at the Niagara Falls border based on the picket signs they carried. Getting wise, they FedExed their signs ahead of time and 7 members made it into Canada last night.
The Facebook page Protest Against (1276 members) is rife with Winnipeggers wanting to curb stomp anyone with a Kansas license plate. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
