Uganda is OK with Killing Gays

Posted by on December 24th, 2009 Comments (179)

Wow. Isn’t religion great? Those religions Muslim and Christian religions that teach love and tolerance right?

Proposed legislation in Uganda states that;

• Gays and lesbians convicted of having gay sex would be sentenced, at minimum, to life in prison

• People who test positive for HIV may be executed

• Homosexuals who have sex with a minor, or engage in homosexual sex more than once, may also receive the death penalty

• The bill forbids the “promotion of homosexuality,” which in effect bans organizations working in HIV and AIDS prevention

• Anyone who knows of homosexual activity taking place but does not report it would risk up to three years in prison

Wow. Yep, just kill them off those evil doers, that will stop it! But it doesn’t end there unfortunately.

It applies even to Ugandans participating in same-sex acts in countries where such behavior is legal.

“They are supposed to be brought back to Uganda and convicted here. The government is putting homosexuality on the level of treason,” Mugisha said.

Lawmakers have indicated that they will pass the bill before year’s end.

And how do those religious leaders react? You know, those people who are parts of religions that preach love and tolerance? Predictably.

It has the blessing of many religious leaders — Muslim and Christian — in a country where a July poll found 95 percent opposed to legalizing homosexuality.

The Rev. Esau Omara, a senior church leader, said over the weekend that any lawmaker opposing the bill will pay for it during the next election, according to local newspaper reports.

And a leading Muslim cleric, Sheikh Ramathan Shaban Mubajje, has called for gays to be rounded up and banished to an island until they die.

I think Christopher Hitchens said it right when he made the claim that religion poisons everything.

There has been a Facebook Group created to opposed this sick government/religion action.

Wikipedia Bans Scientology

Posted by on June 15th, 2009 Comments (1,876)

The Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia has blocked all contributions from computers at the Church of Scientology’s Los Angeles headquarters to stop users there from revising articles to reflect a pro-Scientology viewpoint.

While it is somewhat of a futile point since people that are ambitious can get around that by blocking their I.P.’s, using proxies or going off-site to another location, the gesture itself sends a message that the usually neutral wikipedia isn’t happy about the bombarding of Scientology propaganda on their website, which tries to have it’s content remain objective.

Penn Jillette, an avowed atheist, had an interesting commentary about the situation.

Family Guy: yes, Virginia, 20% of us ARE atheists.

Posted by on March 31st, 2009 Comments (3,075)

A doffing of the atheist cap to Family Guy, who advanced the cause of normalizing the non-belief in God. Brian came out as an atheist this week, though the show laid low by pretending (in TV Guide, I guess) to be about reuniting the cast of Star Trek: Next Gen. That was a disingenuous few-minute subplot, but what were they going to put in the description, “God doesn’t exist and even this animated dog knows it“?

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation don’t like the YouTubes so much, so I can’t show you a clip of the show, but here’s series creator Seth McFarlane chatting with Adam Corolla about his general atheist agenda:

Finally, a mainstream atheist character, even if he is a talking dog. Baby steps.

Fox News gets to the bottom of this whole Satan thing

Posted by on March 27th, 2009 Comments (1,162)

In a bold, hard-hitting display of brilliant investigative reporting, Faux News provokes thought and deepens our trusting relationship with this gem: the Science of Satan debates.

Oh, I wish I was kidding.

Sadly, the word “science” is invoked twice in this clip about the upcoming special. I certainly hope 70% or so of Americans, as O’Reilly mentions, don’t actually live their lives in fear of stuff that doesn’t exist.

O’Reilly brings it all back to free will; God created the Devil to give us some options and counts on us to choose wisely. We don’t have to love God, because there is a competing product. It’s the free market of the soul!

Neither being has so far made a verfiable appearance unto me, so I’m not sure how God expects me to properly conduct interviews and select someone to worship. I know, I know; mysterious ways.

Scientology Propaganda Documentary

Posted by on February 28th, 2009 Comments (1,317)

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights is a Scientology front group that has put out a documentary called Making A Killing: The Untold Story Of Psychotropic Drugging.

The CCHR also runs the infamous “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” museum in Hollywood.

The documentary, much like the museum and it’s travelling display version, are full of ad-hominems, non-sequiturs, straw-man arguments and various other logical fallacies.

Enjoy the crap-ola.

Derek Chatwood’s atheisty art

Posted by on February 26th, 2009 Comments (1,282)

We’ve recently been introduced to Derek Chatwood, having accidentally appropriated his artwork for a Topic Agnostic story on creationism. That’s how authentic his vintage-style comic book artwork is; it appears to be an honest-to-god hilariously Jesus-loving kid’s colouring book.

Turns out you can buy high quality prints of some of this artwork online; we’re fond of Jesus! vs Darwin! and Beginner’s Bible Coloring Book, the aforementioned pilfered image.

It’s been pilfered into the big time of street art as well – check out what looks like a back alley wheatpaste in Bellingham, WA, of the iconic ‘Jesus Riding a Dinosaur’ image. In the vein of Shep Fairey, this image stands on its own even without the context from which it came, but the impossible creationist juxtaposition communicates & provokes more thought than a baleful Andre.
